Using PermaWood ~
How
Much PermaWood Do You Need?
1 Gallon/4 Liters of
PermaWood will provide coverage for:
150 to 300 Square Feet ~
OR ~ 15 to 30 Square Meters
5 Gallons/20 Liters of
PermaWood will provide coverage for:
750 to 1,500 Square Feet ~ OR
~ 75 to 150 Square Meters
*Actual coverage
will depend upon porosity of surface.
Preparing the Surface
- Normal surfaces and/or bare wood need no prior
preparation. PermaWood is the best applied in temperature conditions above freezing.
- Any paint or surface treatment must first be REMOVED
for PermaWood to penetrate and be effective. Remove by scraping, grinding, and/or applying
suitable caustic solvent removers.
Application
- Do not dilute or mix PermaWood with any other liquid. Use as
supplied.
- SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. Apply using brush, roller, or spray (20-30
psi).
- Normal applications only need one coat depending upon porosity. Apply
liberally and saturate all areas. On vertical walls. apply from the bottom up.
- In special problem areas where excessive moisture or water seepage is
present, additional coating may be required. Excessive coating will not penetrate and will
remain gummy on the surface. Such excess should be removed before hardening using water
and a squeegee.
- In areas where foreign matter such as grease or oil have penetrated
below the surface, apply PermaWood, then merely allow the foreign matter to float to the
surface. Flush off with water and reapply PermaWood after each flushing. Several
applications may be needed to flush all foreign matter to the surface. (NOTE: While the
harmful oil residue will be removed, stains from used motor oil may be permanent.)
- PermaWood penetrates the surface within two to four hours after
application. Limited foot traffic is permissible after 30 minutes. See label for more
detailed directions.
- Clean up equipment with water.
Special Considerations:Always we recommend that PermaWood be applied to a
small test area first and allowed to dry before applying to large areas.
Any treated or surface coatings must first be removed
so that PermaWood can penetrate.
Do not apply to glass, glazed surfaces, or aluminum
as etching will occur.
should not be
applied to pressure treated wood.
is not meant to
fill or seal visible cracks.
On occasion, foreign matter such as grease and oil
will float to the surface after application. This foreign matter should be flushed off
with water (in excessive areas, several flushings may be needed), prior to painting.
If the PermaWood product is frozen - thaw out
completely before using. Freezing will not harm the product.
In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with
water immediately.
